Sometimes you just crave some solid pancakes and CB definitely fits the bill. There are not a ton of options available right outside Mammoth Cave, so we stopped here (my FIL almost wanted to stop at McD's across the street). I ordered a couple of buttermilk pancakes topped with a blackberry compote and a side of biscuits with sausage and gravy. I did not expect the amount of compote that came with my pancakes, and since I don't like sodden pancakes, I did wish that I had asked for the compote on the side as I had the whipped cream. I removed the pancakes immediately from their plates, and actually was very impressed with the pancakes. They had just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and fluffiness in the middle. And the compote turned out to be quite good, and we dipped the extra biscuits they gave us with this. The natural syrup that came with my order was not 100% maple though. The waitress did not know this even though it is on the bottle. It was nice that they gave you an entire small bottle though, so we took ours with us just in case. The sausage biscuit in gravy was just ok. I had expected the components to come on one plate, but they were all separate. Nothing special about this dish, and I'm glad I ordered it as a side and not the entire entree. Our table also ordered other items: fried apples, grits, poached eggs, hash brown casserole, etc. The best was likely the has brown casserole (can't go wrong with hash browns really) and the poached egg (the perfect softness, which restaurants often don't achieve). Service was excellent. The waitress was so sweet, it was almost saccharine. They kept an eye out on our water glasses, and made sure the food came out in a timely manner. When my FIL asked for some extra coffee at the end of the meal, the waitress brought him a to go cup. Very nice. Service and food together: 3.5 stars.

It's a Cracker Barrel... what can I say? There's a million cracker barrel's up and down the road. But since this is only one of like two restaurants in the whole teeny-tiny town, I figured I should review it for others... LOL On our trip to Mammoth Cave, we stayed at a little hotel across the street. This town is tiny, if it's even considered a town. There's Cracker Barrel, and some Mexican joint. There's no way we were gonna eat at some random mexican joint in the middle of Po-Dunk U.S.A.. SO we ate at the Cracker Barrel - TWICE. Both times we got seated very quickly. Our waitresses were above average both times. The food was excellent both times (for all 3 people in our party). I'd say overall we had 2 great experiences here! Prices are definitely fair, and for being a chain restaurant the food has so much flavor! 2 thumbs up!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place while visiting Mammoth Cave. The waiter was very friendly and they didn't mind at all when my wife breastfed. I got the chicken pot pie, which came with stir fried veggies and mashed potatoes and biscuits. Probably not the healthiest but it was damned good. For desert I ended up getting the cheesecake, expecting some heated up frozen cheesecake shipped from who knows where, but was again pleasantly surprised. It tasted better than store bought cheesecake factory cheesecake, and actually tasted pretty fresh. I recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere family friendly with good tasting grub.

They must have had too many cooks - Hash browns had way too much pepper; the green beans had no salt. Meatloaf was just okay and a little watery. Service was good though. Hostess sat us next to a family with children. ARG! The Kentucky Cracker Barrels are better than the ones in Arizona.

To me it's not a road trip unless there is cracker barrel involved. The pancakes were so good here we ended up coming two days in a row for breakfast. The service was friendly and although it seemed really busy they got us in and out of there fast.

Convenient right off the Interstate. It's also across the street from Days Inn. They have great food here of course. I highly recommend eating here or calling in your order and pick it up and take back to hotel which is exactly what I did. menu items ordered: chicken with rice, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, and corn. The chicken and rice was great and fixed just the way I like it. I really liked the chicken at it was moist and tender. The corn and mashed potatoes was also great as I ate all of this as there was nothing left. The service was pretty fast but it took longer than they said. Their sweet tea is so good here that I got one to go.

Got to Cave City KY kind of late in the day and wasn't in the mood to try local places since we won't know if they're really going to be good or not. So, we went to the trusty Cracker Barrel. Really good familiar food for dinner. My 4yo accidentally spilled all of his water and the waiter just calmly cleaned them up, saying that it happened a lot and not to feel bad. We appreciated the friendly and good service. Minus 1 star because they got my order slightly incorrect (asked for double turnip greens, but got turnip and green beans instead, no big deal).

I stopped by early one morning on my way to mammoth cave, np. It was only about 20 minutes from the visitor center making it very convenient. As you enter the premises there are 2 lines of rocking chairs on the porch for sale. And when you enter the restaurant there is a gift shop you enter through. I've never been to a cracker barrel before, so I don't know if this is typical. I find it a bit bizarre and unique. I thinik I like it, but it's up for debate still. We ordered poached eggs, with turkey sausage patties, biscuits, grits, biscuits, pancakes with blackberry compote, and fried apples. Poached eggs tastes like you'd expect. Turkey sausages were money. I'd definitely get those again. Biscuits were a bit small but a good texture. The gravy that came with the biscuits could use some work because it tasted like bacos imitation bacon bits mixed in corn starch and water. The grits were plain. The pancakes were very good. However, beware of the 100% natural syrup. It is 55% Maple syrup and 45% cane sugar. So, yes it is 100% natural...but it ain't 100% maple syrup. The fried apples were not bad. The price was reasonable. I would return again. The service was excellent. Kudos for great wait staff.

After checking out of the Hotel of Horrors, we would have gone home had we not had tickets to Mammoth Cave and wanted to go to Kentucky Down Under the next day. We tried to find an independently owned restaurant to eat some breakfast. However, the only one that we found was closed down (sad). We opted to visit the Cracker Barrel and look online at rates for the hotel rooms that we had found. We were immediately greeted by the staff of the Cracker Barrel. As is the way of the iPad, it decided to not charge in the car (even though it had found it to be acceptable the day before). I asked if, perchance, there would be a table near an outlet at which I could plug in. The hostess checked and was unable to accommodate us. I thanked her for looking. The nicest part, though, was that the manager came over to apologize when there was no need. He did offer to let me plug in above the fireplace. I wonder if we looked more than a little haggard after our eventful evening. While we waited for our breakfast, Alexa and I utilized the 5% iPad charge to surf the internet for hotel information. We must have been a sight with two different phones and an iPad and our un-showered glory. As we finally decided that we would just leave the area after going to Mammoth Cave, our breakfast arrived. Breakfast was okay. It wasn't great. It wasn't bad. It tasted like Cracker Barrel food. We had eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and the rest of the usual fare. The best part was that the staff was friendly and helpful. After our interactions with the hotel clerk, it was especially nice to be served by folks concerned with providing quality service. It didn't redeem the area enough to make us think that we needed to spend another night, though.

My husband said his meatloaf was pretty good, though. My vegetables were soggy, and the string beans were mushy. I had always heard Cracker Barrels are great places to eat. Hopefully this was just an off-night, maybe we would try again at a different location.

Same old Cracker Barrel but the location. Cave city. Looking around your options are limited so this is a safe bet. The one difference is this one is about 90% empty compared to other Cracker Barrels. If you've been in one you know what to expect. They recently added a green tomato soup to the menu which is really worth trying. I was surprised how good it actually was.

Got a to go order and the lady who took my order was very respectful! Which seems so rare now days. Got there and waited awhile for my food even though they said it would be 15 minutes. Not that big of a deal but I was disappointed when I got home to find they gave me regular pancakes instead of pecan pancakes like I asked. That's the main reason I chose Cracker Barrel! Overall would come again!

Cracker Barrel you are going down hill!! For some reason last 2 times I tasted the sausage gravy it tasted like plastic. This time visiting cb I got a ham dinner with turnip greens and broccoli. The ham piece was very small fir a dinner the turnip greens had a funny yucky taste to them. Steamed broccoli was great! Waitress was great! This was probably the last time I eat here the food is worse than fast food from across the road ... Cracker Barrel what kind of chemicals or preservatives are you putting in your food??? Stop it!!!!

I have been disappointed by Cracker Barrels many times. I have continue to try it upon occasion when I see the crowded parking lots and the numbers of people waiting to be seated. This is the last time! We both had the Smokehouse breakfast and it was truly horrible. The grits were watered down to a consistency of a liquid, the gravy was paste, the hot tea was cold the meat was inedible, the eggs were cold. If there was any saving grace at all, it was the biscuits. They were not warm but at least they were tasty. Cracker Barrel. Is living on an outdated reputation and this location was one of the worst. Only good thing here was the wait staff, they were adequate.

Fast service. Scrumptious, immense portions. Courteous and lovely staff. I wanted to propose to my waitress after falling in love with her Kentucky accent. The nice thing about Cracker Barrel is that the food is consistently the same no matter which location you go to, and it doesn't seem like it came pre-made and formed out of a freezer. The main reason I like eating at Cracker Barrel is that I know my snobby, snooty east-coast friends would look down on me for eating there. For me, it is an act of rebellion.

We stopped and had brunch here after checking out of our hotel in Glasgow (about a 15 min drive south). We had spotted this Cracker Barrel when we got off the interstate on way to the hotel and after deciding to skip the hotel's continental breakfast in favor of sleeping in we drove back to Cave City. The place was moderately busy when we arrived, but we got a seat quickly. Our waitress was friendly and very patient as we debated what to have. The food took a bit to get to us once we ordered, but was hot and fresh when it arrived. I think what impressed me the most was the manager was actually working the floor. She stopped by asking guest if everything was alright, she took orders, and helped clean tables. The whole staff seemed happy to be there. The store felt cramped but I find most Cracker Barrel store do. We will definitely stop in the next time we are in the area.
